ADECAGUA, with headquarters in Barcelona, is an association of water industry professionals whose basic objectives are: improving the transmission of technical know-how in the residual urban and industrial water processing; promoting adequate environmental management of water resources; advocating for governmental legislation to protect water quality in Spain; exchanging information and experiences between members and stakeholders; and promoting professionalism among water industry workers.

AquaSendas is a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to creating awareness and including citizenry in the conservation of Chilean aquatic ecosystems. The COPAS Center is devoted to advanced basic scientific research on the circulation, biogeochemical cycling, ecology and paleoceanography of the Eastern South Pacific Ocean. Both institutions have joined efforts to develop a nationwide network of public schools as stewards of local waterbodies and to strengthen k-12 water curricula.

Hosted by NEEF, the National Environmental Education Foundation, EE Week is the nation's largest celebration of environmental education held each year the week before Earth Day and inspires environmental learning and stewardship among K-12 students. The 2013 theme, Greening STEM: Taking Technology Outdoors, will explore how technology can enhance environmental learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Environment Online (ENO) is a global virtual school and network for sustainable development where schools around the world study environmental themes and share the results at local level and globally on the website. This free programme for schools was launched in 2000 and has now spread to over 100 countries and is administered by the city of Joensuu, Finland. ENO works in co-operation with UNEP and the university of Joensuu, as well as many international organisations and networks.

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. In 2008, 120,000 volunteers built trails and bridges, removed trash and invasive plants planted over 1.6 million trees. The goals of NPLD include: educating Americans about critical environmental and natural resources issues and the need for shared stewardship of these valued, irreplaceable lands; building partnerships between the public sector and the local community based upon mutual interests in the enhancement and restoration of America's public lands; and improving public lands for outdoor recreation, with volunteers assisting land managers in hands-on work.

With support from the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board, the Puerto Rico Water Environment Association, and the Environmental Protection Agency, the San Juan Bay Estuary Program is the proud host of the Día de Monitoreo de Calidad de Agua across the island in April each year. First celebrated in 2009, the event was created to raise awareness and promote the importance of conserving Puerto Rico’s water resources by engaging a large number of people in monitoring activities. In 2011 the organization expects to coordinate monitoring by approximately 1,500 people at a total of 50 sites.

The União dos Escoteiros do Brasil (the national scouting association of Brazil) is supporting and promoting World Water Monitoring Challenge through its Rede Ambiental Escoteira, a network of scouts and scout leaders passionate about the environment. Approximately 300 local scout associations participated in the UEB’s environmental program in 2012, approximately 15,000 scouts. WWMC was introduced as a project and will continue as a highlight for 2013, which will feature a ‘water’ theme.

Water New Zealand Water New Zealand is a membership organization with a focus on promoting and enabling the sustainable management and development of the water environment, and is supporting World Water Monitoring Day by promoting the initiative through its membership and networks within New Zealand’s water industry.
